Grahame Booth an artist from Belfast, gave a wonderful Zoom demonstration in watercolour which was enjoyed by many members. Entitled 'A Wet Day in Budleigh Salterton' Grahame showed us step by step how he achieved the painting above. Like all talented artists he made it look easy.

Here are two still life subjects for February recalling sunnier days. I wanted to show that a still life doesn't need to be set up with background and lights, but any snap will do. Simplified elements can be edited to create the interest you want. I loved these colourful roses in the summer and put them in a glass on the table. The thing I wanted to convey in my painting was the strong light source on the flowers. The background and foreground are totally irrelevant to the subject and are very simply rendered in a neutral – emphasizing dark against light. This little palette knife painting took about 20 minutes and was great fun to do.
